The ETAP Nuclear Utility Users Conference (NUUC) brings together nuclear utility professionals to exchange knowledge, discuss industry challenges, and explore best practices in electrical power system modeling and analysis. NUUC provides a collaborative forum for technical presentations, benchmarking discussions, ETAP product updates, and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing focused on the needs of nuclear power generation facilities.
The 2027 NUUC will be held in Irvine, California (venue details coming soon).
About NUUG: The ETAP Nuclear Utility Users Group (NUUG) has been established to create a discussion platform between the software vendor, ETAP® / Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI), and their clients using the ETAP software in the support of activities for nuclear power generating stations.
The purpose of the ETAP Nuclear Utility User Conference is to provide a discussion platform for its members to share and discuss items related to ETAP and the nuclear power industry.

Nuclear plants in the United States are governed by federal regulations requiring that the electrical power system provide sufficient capacity and capability to the nuclear plant. As part of this analysis, traditional approaches to manually perform single motor start calculations can be tedious and time-consuming. Also, the manual evaluation of the data can easily introduce errors. This presentation takes a closer look at degraded voltage relays (DVRS) and an approach to simulation used by the TVA that is holistic, using ETAP to easily combine the study cases, the revisions, and the configurations into repeatable studies. The demonstration includes the use of an efficient solution using Python code with ETAP to run the studies and evaluate the resultant data.
