With the penetration of distributed generations into distribution network, real-time model based monitoring of the network using distribution state estimation is essential for traditional unbalanced distribution networks. Distribution State Estimation utilizes load allocation techniques to further provide real-time reporting of technical and non-technical power losses.

  • Estimate individual loads on a feeder based on load classes, load type, load curve, and load measurements
  • Integrates with transmission state estimation to provide a unified and complete picture of an integrated transmission and distribution system
  • Distribution State Estimation can operate in power networks:
    • With or without verification of telemetered measurements
    • With manual or automatically processing unobservable parts of network
    • With or without fixed measurements
    • All historical data are known
    • Networks with no historical data available (based on parameters of the network elements) and also according to users setting

  • Distribution State Estimation utilizes historical data of the network including:
    • Daily load profiles based on class types, day of week and weather conditions
    • Peak loads for distribution transformers and/or consumers and/or energy transfer
  • Distribution State Estimation considers into account the non-availability of real time data and compensates them with historical data, pseudo and virtual measurements, to achieve the minimal set of input data necessary for running a consistent power flow
  • Real-time tabular reporting of technical and non-technical losses per feeder and per substation
